How to Grow

Reeds are one type of grass plant that has a very diverse range.  In general, this plant is widely cultivated as a sweetener in the yard, even though in rural areas it is used as animal feed.

Select Seeds

Seeds are one of the important components that determine the quality of most plants.  This also applies to reeds.  Although reeds are like other types of grass plants that are easy to grow, you still have to choose good seeds so that the plants produced are of even higher quality.

You can judge whether or not this reed seed is good from the shoots.  Pay attention to the reed shoots that you are going to choose, and make sure that there are no pines on them.  This pest is usually found under the leaves of the reeds and will damage the quality of the plant.

Prepare Planting Media

In addition to prepare the seeds, you must also provide a suitable planting media for growing reeds. You must choose a planting medai in the form of loose soil.  Make sure the soil used is not mixed with gravel.

Loose soil that is not mixed with gravel tends to be suitable for planting reeds because it can make the plant more fertile than soil with gravel in it.  You can put this soil into pots or other containers as a planting medium, or it can be directly in the soil of the yard.

You can also add rice husk as a mixture of this soil in a ratio of 2:1.  Then, make a hole in the soil.  Insert the prepared reed seeds into the hole, and cover it with soil.  Next, you just do the treatment.

Plant Watering

After the reed seeds are planted in the planting medium well, water the seeds with sufficient water.  In the future, you also still have to water this plant so that it thrives as expected.

Make sure you water the reeds regularly, ie every morning and evening.  Pair it with enough sunlight to make your plants healthier.  Place the reed plant in a place that gets enough sunlight.

Maintenance

Even a good way of planting reeds will not be perfect if it is not accompanied by proper care.  Reeds care is almost the same as other plants.  In addition to watering, you should also do fertilization and spraying.

Fertilizer is an additional vitamin that is needed for plants.  Therefore, you must give fertilizer to the Imperata plants properly, correctly, and regularly.  You can use both manure and compost on these plants.

In addition, you also have to treat these plants by spraying pesticides.  This spraying should be done regularly once a week.  This type of treatment serves to prevent the presence of pests such as grasshoppers, ticks, and mosquitoes on plants.

Weeding

In order for your reeds to look beautiful, fresh, and healthy, weeding is necessary.  This process is a complement to how to plant weeds that have been discussed previously. This step is done by cleaning the nuisance plants around the plant.

Pay attention to the soil around the reeds.  Usually, weeds will grow around the plant which will interfere with the beauty and growth of the plant.  Clean this grass regularly, at least once a week.

Reeds also needs to be accompanied by the selection of damaged and old leaves.  To get perfect reeds, you have to regularly sort, then cut the leaves.  This will help the plant to sprout more and more.
